Ireland's Jeff Hendrick targets home form as Burnley aim for survival

Ireland midfielder Jeff Hendrick is aiming to help Burnley turn Turf Moor into a fortress as they try to survive in the Premier League at the first attempt.

The club host Watford in the Monday night fixture and thus far sit 17th in the table.

Their home form has seen Sean Dyche's side lose to Swansea, beat Liverpool and draw with Hull City.

Hendrick is the club record signing, having signed for Burnley from Derby County for a fee of about €12 million.

"I think everyone wants to make the home stadium a fortress and the fans to get behind them to make it a hard atmosphere to come to for away teams to relax and enjoy their football. You want them to be a bit nervous," he said.

Hendrick has made two Premier League appearances so far this season in his first season at that level, having spent the previous part of his career in the Championship with Derby.

The 27-time Ireland cap, who scored his first international goal against Serbia in September's 2018 World Cup qualifier, was one of the leading lights for the Boys in Green at Euro 2016.
