Daryl Horgan remains one of the most sought-after players in the League of Ireland.
The Dundalk winger has impressed at both domestic and European level this year for the Premier Division and FAI Cup champions. He is out of contract at the end of the season, and English clubs are sharpening their knives to try and grasp the 24-year-old from Louth.
According to The Sun, former Republic of Ireland manager Mick McCarthy has been keeping an eye on Horgan's situation, and is preparing to make an offer to bring the winger to Ipswich Town. McCarthy sent scouts to Oriel Park on Tuesday night, to see Dundalk beat Cork City 2-1.
Horgan was directly involved in both of Dundalk's goals. His free-kick deflected off goalkeeper Mark McNulty for the opening goal, before scoring the second with an excellent solo effort.
Such has been the level of performance with Horgan this season, he has been regularly linked with a place in Martin O'Neill's Republic of Ireland squad, but has yet to be called up to the training squad.
With his contract expiring at the end of the season, Horgan can leave the club for free. As he is 24-year-old, Dundalk would not be entitled to compensation.
Last season, he had trials with Torquay United, Burnley and Peterborough United, but chose to remain in Louth. If he is to leave at the end of this season, it would surely be without the need of seeing what Horgan is capable of.
