David Meyler was back on OTB AM this morning to discuss Liverpool's continued poor run of form, Man United stumbling yet again, Man City's ominous defeat of Spurs..... and of course Roy Keane's arrival on Instagram.
The former Man United midfielder became one of the final members of planet earth to set up an Instagram account, when @officialkeane16 appeared out of nowhere on Friday night, racking up more than one million followers in the days that have followed.
Roy Keane's thoughts on social media have been well documented, but he got his first TikTok experience last week when his Sky colleague Micah Richards showed him a video clip that was doing the rounds.
David Meyler joined Ger and Eoin on OTB AM this morning where he went into detail on another busy weekend in the Premier League, and particularly one where Man City took yet another step along the road to a now-inevitable title.
But before we let Meyler go, we had to get his thoughts on his fellow Corkman's arrival on the social media scene. Meyler says he needed confirmation from the man himself before he could believe his eyes.
"I was on a call with my mates, and they said, 'You won't believe, Roy has Instagram!' I said, 'no chance'. Man United were following him, Micah Richards was putting it out, so I said no chance. I had to message him myself and he did in fact confirm to me it was him!" he says.
Meyler added that in his days working under Keano in the Republic of Ireland camp, Roy's views on social media were well known.
"Roy used to hammer me years ago about my social media. I just couldn't believe it. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. This is someone who wasn't social media, it wasn't for him, but he's moving with the times I suppose!
"It is an interesting one, buy it's great! How active he'll be on it, I don't know! It'll be interesting to see if he does a live Q and A or something along those lines.
"I just asked him, 'I can't believe you're on Instagram?', he just replied to say, 'it's about time I dipped my toe in the social media world'."
