Kevin Kilbane has praised Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's start to his managerial career at Old Trafford but he's not sure the Norwegian will get the job on a permanent basis.
United have won eight games in a row since Solskjaer took over after Jose Mourinho's sacking - culminating with a 3-1 away win against Arsenal in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Friday.
Kilbane joined Football Saturday on Off the Ball and asked if Solskjaer will get the job full time, he said: "Is it going to be one where we're all jumping on the bandwagon? They've had a great run - an amazing start to his managerial career at United.
"He's clearly come in with an agenda to get the team playing again, get the team back on side, get the players happy. Is he going to be the long term answer? I don't know.
"The reason why I say that is because clearly the board are uncertain about the appointment at the start of it - they were looking elsewhere. they have due diligence and everything's taking place and they're making sure that they're going to get the right man - at the moment, I would say 'No'.
"The reason I say 'No' is all that he's done in the last month or six weeks since he's taken over has gotten the players back on-side, he's buttered egos, he's got everybody playing to a way where they can express themselves a bit more. I think tactically he's worked on one or two things - you look at what they did against Spurs - they got the best out of that game.
"At the moment, I would say 'No' but we may start to get a feeling how the team is going to progress going forward and if there's going to be a set plan for that club. He's certainly putting himself in a great position with the results he's getting," he added.
