Harry Redknapp believes that he is at the right time in life to be "perfect" for the England job.
The former Tottenham and West Ham boss is among the names being linked with the Three Lions vacancy since Roy Hodgson resigned as manager after the Euro 2016 loss to Iceland.
"Now, it would suit me fine. I think I'd be more cut out. I'm a few years older [than in 2012 when overlooked for Hodgson]," Redknapp told Off The Ball at the launch of Eir Sports.
"But if I did the job I would need to work with a younger guy. I'd like to work with a couple of younger guys. I'd enjoy that.
"I think when I said that I had no chance, I was just thinking that [the FA] wouldn't give me the job basically - I'm thinking 'well, maybe I'm not cut out for the people at the FA, maybe I'm not the type of appointment they would make'. But I think it's time maybe now."
Praising Terry Venables' England regime in the 1990s for getting the best out of the players, he drew comparisons with that approach.
"I think that's what I can do. I think that's my strength, getting the best out of good players, getting them to relax and play their football and play the way they want to play. And I think I could take a bit of pressure off. I can handle the media, it's not a problem, so actually I think I'd be perfect for the job."
Redknapp also spoke about the outstanding generation of West Ham players he was in charge of in the late '90s including Frank Lampard, Rio Ferdinand, Michael Carrick and Joe Cole.
"Rio at 15 was the biggest certainty you'd ever seen to be a superstar," he said of a late developer, while Cole "was the best schoolboy footballer" he'd ever seen.
Plus he also spoke about his habit of leaning out the car window for interviews on Transfer Deadline Day and how his time at Tottenham came to an end.
Harry Redknapp was speaking at the launch of eir Sport, formerly Setanta Sports and the eir Sport Pack. The eir Sport pack includes eir Sport 1 and eir Sport 2; BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2, BT Sport Europe and BT Sport ESPN. The eir Sport Pack is now free to all existing and new eir broadband customers. eir Sport has also secured the rights to the 2019 Rugby World Cup and 2017 Women’s Rugby World Cup. eir Sport was formerly Setanta Sports.
