Glenn Hoddle interested in England manager role

Glenn Hoddle is willing to discuss the possibility of managing England again following a failed spell in charge from 1996 to 1999.

The 58-year-old is considered a leading contender to take over from Roy Hodgson after a pitiful display at Euro 2016, which resulted in Hodgson resigning from his role within minutes of the final whistle against Iceland.

"I am flattered that people in football are saying that perhaps I should have another go at it," Hoddle told ITV.

"I've not had contact from the FA but if they did come then I would talk to them about whatever role they want. But I can assure you there has been no contact.

"The bottom line is; if they come and want to talk, I'll talk. They might just want some feedback, they might have their guy already."

He also said, in another interview: "If I'm asked to speak to the FA, my answer would be 'of course, any proud Englishman would want to discuss this opportunity'.

Hoddle, a born-again Christian, was dismissed from his role as England manager ahead of Euro 2000 for remarks made about parents with disabled children being punished by God for their sins.
