"Giving up is not an option" - Ibrahimovic vows to return from injury

Manchester United's Zlatan Ibrahimovic has vowed to return from a career-threatening injury.

The Swedish striker ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament last Thursday as United reached the Europa League semi-finals. The 35-year-old's contract with the Old Trafford finishes at the end of the season.

While Ibrahimovic's time with Manchester United may have come to a premature end, the striker (who has scored 28 goals this season) has vowed to continue playing.

"I decide when its time to stop and nothing else. Giving up is not an option", Ibrahimovic revealed in a social media post on Sunday night in his first public comment since the injury.

Despite an offer of a second season at Old Trafford, manager Jose Mourinho and the club may be unwilling to wait on the striker's return. Ibrahimovic is not expected to return to action until December at the earliest, and his high salary may stop the club from keeping the striker.

In Ibrahimovic's absence, Manchester United defeated Burnley 2-0 on Sunday afternoon with Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney scoring the goals.
