Aston Villa and Watford led the the tributes to their former manager this afternoon as English football honoured former England boss, Graham Taylor.

The 72-year-old passed away earlier this week of a suspected heart attack, leading to an out-pour of affection toward the Scunthorpe native.

During a career spanning almost 50 years, he spent a decade at Watford, taking the Hertfordshire club from the fourth division to the first division in only five years.

While his time in charge of the national side was difficult, the team did qualify for the Euro '92 finals in Sweden.

He also had spells in charge of Lincoln City and Wolves before he called time on his managerial career and today English football remembered Graham Taylor.

Aston Villa also flew flags at half mast to mourn the passing of a club icon and fans honoured his memory ahead of their game with Wolves.

A minute’s applause will take place prior to kick off (5.30pm), and floral tributes will be placed involving past and present representatives from both clubs, and the England national team.
