Daniel Agger has announced his retirement from football at the age of just 31.
The former Liverpool and Brondby player took to Twitter to confirm the news saying that it was "sad, but it's the right decision to stop."
Thank you for your support.A great experience. It's sad,but it is the right decision to stop. I'm proud of my career. pic.twitter.com/Geu9y47vnN

Agger played for the best opart of a decade at Liverpool, and earned 75 caps for his national side during a career in which he was twice named the Danish Footballer of the Year.
Injuries played an unfortunately large part in the defender's career, as he struggled with a recurring back issue and often spent prolonged periods out of the starting lineup.
However, he was still hugely popular with fans of the Anfield club, who have been paying tribute to him since he made the announcement on Thursday.
