FAI to meet supporters to discuss new ticket system

The FAI says it plans to hold stakeholder meetings with supporter groups and clubs over the next two months in order to improve the ticket-allocation system for away matches.

The Association has come in for heavy criticism in the wake of last week's Euro2016 qualifier against Scotland, when the Scottish FA provided an allocation of just five per cent and fans groups staged a protest over how those tickets were distributed.

In response, the FAI has launched a new registration platform - Fans Direct - which it says will provide a route for independent supporters to apply for tickets to away games.

A statement from the FAI said Fans Direct will serve supporters who “either do not wish to join, or do not have access to, the 23 Republic of Ireland Soccer Supporters Clubs (ROISSCs).”

The system will offer an option for independent supporters to apply for tickets to away games, with tickets to “be allocated within the Fans Direct database based on previous match attendance.”
