FAI announce new kit deal with New Balance

The FAI have announced that American company New Balance are to become their new kit suppliers.

Although the length of the deal has not been announced, Republic of Ireland teams will start wearing New Balance kits from August. It marks the end of a partnership with Umbro that lasted over two decades.

New Balance's deal is not the first time they have entered the Irish market. The Boston-based company already supply kits to Shamrock Rovers, Athletics Ireland and the Olympic Council of Ireland.

"The FAI is delighted to announce this relationship for our international teams", CEO John Delaney said. "The Republic of Ireland jersey is recognisable all around the world and is synonymous with the passion that our players and our supporters are renowned for."

"This truly is a fantastic collaboration for the brand with such strongly supported national team", Richard Wright, General Manager of New Balance Football added. Ireland boast some of the most passionate supporters in the world and we look forward to creating kits for them to be proud of, hoping to be a part of the success on the pitch."

The Republic of Ireland men's team have three internationals to play next month including a World Cup qualifier against Austria before the move to New Balance. The women's team have two more friendlies to play in June and July before the new deal kicks in.

New Balance already provide kits to the likes of Liverpool, Celtic and Porto. In international football, they also provide kits for Costa Rica and Panama.
