Fabricio Coloccini leaves Newcastle after eight years on Tyneside - Reports

Fabricio Coloccini has called time on his Newcastle United career and leaves St James's Park after eight years on Tyneside - according to San Lorenzo manager Diego Aguirre.

The former captain has reportedly signed for the Argentinian side after a three-year pursuit by the Primera Division club.

San Lorenzo coach Diego Aguirre said: "Coloccini will be very welcome. He will bring much to the club on and off the field."

The tweet, from respected South Anerican football journalist Facu Terrés Grimaldi, above reads: "Fabricio Coloccini , new SAN LORENZO player . Returns after 15 years. He played 19 games and scored 3 goals in the champion Cyclone C2001."

"At the moment I have in mind going back to Argentine football," Coloccini said earlier this summer.

"I want to go back to San Lorenzo and fulfil the dream of entering the pitch with my kids and retire there."

There has been no official announcement for the club.
