Ex-Schalke and Stuttgart boss linked with England manager vacancy

Former Schalke and Stuttgart manager Ralf Rangnick is being considered for the England job according to reports.

It is understood he was interviewed by the Football Association after Roy Hodgson left in the summer and they want to speak to him again now Sam Allardyce is gone.

The German is currently Leipzig's sports director.

Sky Sports claim that Rangnick impressed technical director Dan Ashworth and add that the latter tried to bring him to West Brom - where he worked at the time - back in 2012.

Rangnick won the German Cup in 2011 with Schalke and also led Hannover 96 to promotion in 2002.

While at Schalke, he led the Gelsenkirchen club to the Champions League semi-finals in the 2010-11 season but stepped down at the start of the following season due to fatigue.

In his first spell at Schalke in the 2004-05 season, he led the club to second in the league and cup.

Since Allardyce departed the role after just one-match in charge, the likes of Arsene Wenger, Alan Pardew, Steve Bruce and Eddie Howe have been speculated as potential successors.
