Lampard is getting all he can from the Everton Squad - Greg O'Keeffe

Frank Lampard is doing a good job at Everton by inspiring players to work hard, says Greg O'Keeffe.

Athletic journalist Greg O'Keeffe joined The Football Show to discuss Everton and Frank Lampard.

Frank Lampard's Everton are yet to win a game so far this season.

Everton lost to Chelsea and Aston Villa to start the season. Since then, they have drawn three games with Nottingham Forest, Brentford and Leeds United. Despite being 17th in the league, Greg O'Keeffe believes that Frank Lampard is doing a very good job as the team's manager.

Lampard took over Everton last season and has not spent big money to bring in new players during the offseason. O'Keeffe believes that Lampard is getting more from his squad than he should.

"It doesn't surprise me at all to hear Seamus [Coleman praise Lampard]," O'Keeffe said.

"He's properly one of the most popular managers, in terms of universally across the dressing room, that I've seen at Everton for a long time. I've been watching and covering Everton for a good while now. And he's fostered that spirit, even with players who aren't playing week in and week out."

While Lampard's side isn't winning games, his popularity amongst his squad is a good sign for their motivation moving forward. But it's not just results that are going against him. He also has to deal with wantaway Anthony Gordon who is aiming to move to Chelsea.

Lampard doesn't have the squad to drop Gordon. He needs him to start and play well.

Without a litany of talented players, Lampard must get his players to work hard.

"He's got a real spirit in that dressing room that goes through the whole squad. The players are working extra hard for him. For example, last night, he managed to get a shift off the ball from so many of those players who played on Saturday as well.

"He didn't use a single substitution last night, which was unusual, and the players kept going right until the end."
