EPL review: Day of respite for Liverpool and Sunderland

It was a day of respite for several struggling Premier League sides, with Liverpool, among the sides who came into today on a poor run of form but left it with a valuable result.

Liverpool got their first Premier League win since August with a 2-1 win over West Brom at Anfield this afternoon. Adam Lallana and Jordan Henderson got the goals for Brendan Rodgers side, with Saido Berhino scoring from the spot for the visitor’s only goal.

Sunderland enjoyed a similarly uncharacteristic afternoon, getting their first win of the league season thanks to a Steven Fletcher brace that helped them past Stoke with a 3-1 win.

Alan Pardew enjoyed some respite thanks to Papiss Cissé, with the Senegalese striker scoring twice at the Liberty Stadium to give Newcastle a valuable away point against Swansea.

Burnely relied on a n injury time free kick from Ross Wallace levelling matters against Leicester at 2-2.

Meanwhile, Hull City beat Crystal Palace 2-0 at home. Nikica Kelavic and Mo Diame were the scorers.

Manchester City and Aston Villa are currently tied at 0-0 at half time at Villa Park.
