Eintracht Frankfurt send loanee back to Man United over tattoo situation

Manchester United full-back Guillermo Varela has been sent back to the club from his loan spell at Eintracht Frankfurt after getting a tattoo.

He was told not to, and will now miss Saturday's German Cup final against Borussia Dortmund.

The defender's arm was inflamed as a result.

Frankfurt 's sporting director Fredi Bobic said a player who doesn't do as he's told "can't be tolerated".

"His behaviour was reckless and hurts the team," said Bobic.

"Guillermo's path at Eintracht ends here. The club can't put up with a player acting against the coach's and doctors' instructions.

"We were already considering extending his loan. But that's naturally no longer an issue. Guillermo will be suspended with immediate effect."

Varela has only made just under a dozen first team appearances for Man United since signing from Uruguayan giants Penarol in 2013.

The 24 year old had previously been on loan to Real Madrid Castilla two seasons ago before being sent out on loan to Eintracht Frankfurt this season where he has made 10 appearances in all competitions including the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal.

Eintracht Frankfurt, who were famously beaten by Real Madrid 7-3 in the 1960 European Cup final, have not won the German Cup since 1980 - their last major trophy.

Previously they have won a German Championship as well as three other domestic cups and the 1980 UEFA Cup when they beat Borussia Monchengladbach in an all German final.
