Old Trafford is known as the Theatre of Dreams, but in more recent years it is known as being a place that is stuck in the past - a situation mirrored by the stewardship of Ed Woodward.
Speaking to Off The Ball on our Deadline Day Special, Andy Mitten of United We Stand said that it is embarrassing how little has been done.
“That stadium is fraying around the edges, and almost nothing has been done in the last nine or ten years - it has only been piecemeal developments."
“I have travelled the world and I have been to 85 games last season, and Old Trafford is being left behind.
“Old Trafford should be redeveloped. I think the the south stand should be built upon and the capacity should be increased," Mitten said.
Director of Football
Mitten believes that it is embarrassing for one of the best teams in the world to have a stadium that is so antiquated.
“There wasn’t Wi-Fi in the press box at Old Trafford until 2018, I mean it's ridiculous!
“For so long, Old Trafford was the best stadium in England and it isn’t anymore," Andy said.
Mitten also criticised Ed Woodward's role in all of it and he wasn't sure how manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will work out this season.
“Ed Woodward is clearly under scrutiny and if the season starts badly, he will be under even more.
“He said the club would appoint a director of football and it hasn’t happened and it’s legitimate to ask why that hasn’t happened.
“There are questions about his [Solskjaer] body of work. It's alright to be building for the long term, but he needs to get results in the short term because things will kick off again if he doesn't," he said.
