Dundalk FC duo Daryl Horgan and Andy Boyle have expressed their delight at getting call-ups to the provisional Ireland squad for the upcoming 2018 World Cup qualifier against Austria.
The players have been rewarded for their fine club form in the League of Ireland and in the Europa League.
Domestically, they have secured their third Premier Division title in a row and have picked up four points from a possible nine in their maiden Europa League group stage campaign.
Speaking to the Dundalk FC website, Horgan described it as "a huge honour for me to be in the squad. It’s a massive honour".
With the squad to be cut down from the current 35 to 23, Boyle has set his sights on making the cut: "The aim is to get into the final 23 squad. I know that the squad is a good squad but the aim is to break into that 23".
Boyle (25) joined Dundalk in December 2012 ahead of the 2013 League of Ireland season, while Horgan, who has been capped by the Ireland under-21s, signed for Dundalk ahead of the 2014 season.
