Norwegian striker Ole Erik Midtskogen has become Dundalk's first signing ahead of the 2021 season.
The 25-year old joins from Faroe Island champions KI.
Midtskogen actually scored for the Klaksvik side when they lost 3-1 to Dundalk in the playoff round of the Europa League in October.
He scored 10 times in 30 appearances for KI during their 2020 campaign. Prior to that, Midtskogen found the net on 11 occasions in just over three years at Ham-Kam in his native Norway.
New Dundalk sporting director Jim Magilton has a job on his hands keeping a strong Dundalk squad together.
Experienced goalkeeper Gary Rogers has retired from the game, while defender Sean Hoare has joined champions Shamrock Rovers.
Cup final hero Dave McMillan, Michael Duffy, captain Brian Gartland, and Puskas Award nominee Jordan Flores are among those who find themselves out of contract.
Others like Sean Gannon have been linked with moves to St. Patrick's Athletic.
However, head coach Filippo Giovagnoli is delighted to have completed his first piece of transfer business with Midtskogen.
"Ole’s characteristics as a player will really fit into our style of play and to the League of Ireland," the Italian said.
"He scored a brilliant goal against us but it’s his all-round style and quality that has really impressed us.
“He is a big, physical player but he is also very technical and has the characteristics and the profile we are looking for. We believe we can help him develop and become a big addition at Dundalk FC."
