Reigning SSE Airtricity League Premier Division champions Dundalk have been held to a 1-1 draw by St. Pat’s in their first game back in 21 weeks.

Pat Hoban opened the scoring for the hosts after 23-minuntes but just two minutes later, Pat’s were level through Dundalk old-boy Robbie Benson.

Shamrock Rovers will have the chance to stretch their lead at the summit of the table to five-points with a win against Finn Harps on Saturday.

Elsewhere, Derry manager Declan Devine says the display from his side this evening was unacceptable.

The Candystripes were beaten 2-0 by Sligo Rovers at the Ryan McBride Brandywell.

Kyle Callan-McFadden and Ronan Coughlan with the Sligo goals, the latter from the spot, that win moves Sligo off the foot of the table.

Cabinteely continued their 100 per cent start in the First Division with a 2-0 victory away to Galway United.

Shane Barnes and Kevin Knight were on target in either half as Cabo recorded their first-ever win way to Galway.

Second placed Longford were held to a goalless draw at UCD and the Midlanders are now five-points behind in the title race.

Wexford picked up their first win of the season with a 3-1 victory at Athlone Town while Bray and Cobh finished scoreless.
