Derry City have increased their attacking options with a week to go until the resumption of the SSE Airtricity Premier Division.
The Candystripes have signed versatile attacker James Akintunde until the end of the season.
The 24-year old started his career with Cambridge United and has had stints with Chester and - most recently - Maidenhead United.
Akintunde is Derry's second signing inside 24-hours, following the arrival of former Liverpool and Barnsley winger Adam Hammill.
Derry are due to resume their campaign at home to Sligo Rovers on Friday-week (July 31).
"He’s the type of player we’ve been after- strong and direct and he has looked good since coming in," Devine told DerryCity.com following an impressive trial period.
"He can play anywhere across the front three and he will give us good options in attack," Devine added.
"He’s here until the end of the season initially but if things go well over the next few weeks I’d be hopeful he’ll be here longer.”
"I think he’s another player that our supporters will enjoy watching"
Derry needed to replenish their attacking ranks after Tim Nilsen decided to leave at the end of June.
Devine will hope Akintunde can help improve Derry's season - they'd only won one of their four games in the SSE Airtricity Premier Division prior to lockdown.
