Italian football legend Francesco Totti has announced that he will leave Roma at the end of the season but it is unclear if he is retiring from the game.
The 40 year old has spent his entire career with Roma, making his debut in 1993 and going on to make nearly 800 appearances, winning Serie A in 2001 and two Coppa Italias as a club idol.
He wrote on social media saying Sunday's match with Genoa would be his last game for the club and he's "ready for a new challenge".
At the start of May, Roma's new sporting director Monchi had announced that Totti would not play for Roma beyond this season, with the 2006 World Cup winner expected to graduate to a directorial role with his hometown club once his playing days with the Giallorossi was over.
Totti is among the last of football's one-club men, having stayed loyal to Serie A side AS Roma for the entirety of his career.
The legendary forward made his debut for hometown club Roma as a 16 year old back in the 1992-93 season and is in his 25th career as a senior professional at the club.
Are Monchi and a new stadium about to spark a Roma empire?
