Martin Lipton joined us to discuss all things Tottenham on Tuesday night's The Football Show, and attention turned to a mooted argument between Danny Rose and Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho denies that the pair had a training pitch confrontation, but Lipton believes that such a thing could happen with Danny Rose in his current state of mind at Tottenham.
"Danny Rose is, at best, a complicated fellow," said Lipton.
Danny Rose
"[Mauricio] Pochettino loved him for a long time, but just had enough of Rose's constant moaning.
"Rose has told Spurs 'I don't want to play for you any longer, but I am going to see out my contract.'"
"If that is the case, and they do not want him at the club any more, what do they do? Leave him out of the team. So he either gets so angry he wants out or he starts playing better so he wants to play.
"The policy is that they are just going to try and play him at his own game. He has shown a lack of conviction and desire to play for Tottenham, so why should they put him in the team?"
A long-standing concern over Rose's fitness appears to be playing into the thinking now, and has also been a concern in the past when he looked to regain fitness and form.
"The fact is [Mourinho] clearly doesn't think he is fit enough, because he wouldn't have played [Tanganga] at left-back if he was fit instead.
"Rose hasn't played enough football for two-and-a-half-years. That injury he got at Sunderland means he has gone back physically since.
