Dani Alves pays tribute to LeBron James with Juventus shirt number

Dani Alves is a player that loves changing shirt numbers.

Originally given the number 20 jersey from Barcelona when signing in 2008, he went on to wear the numbers 2, 22 and 6 before leaving at the end of last season.

Best remembered for wearing number 2, he switched to 22 in a tribute to Eric Abidal for two seasons, before wearing the number 6 when Xavi left the club. The final number switch he claimed was due to the fact he wore that jersey when playing for Sevilla.

The Brazilian defender joined Italian giants Juventus after leaving Barcelona, and had his unveiling in Turin on Tuesday afternoon, where he donned the number 23 jersey for the first time. He explained the reason for picking the number was in tribute to LeBron James.

“I identify with him because he’s reinvented himself and got back to winning ways", Alves admitted, when speaking about James according to Sport. "I’m also changing my team, city, country and type of football and I have to reinvent myself."

LeBron James helped the Cleveland Cavaliers win their first NBA Finals earlier this month when they defeated the Golden State Warriors in seven games. The 31-year-old Ohio native has won three NBA Titles.
