After a difficult first half to this season, Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has been back on the goal trail of late.
The England international scored the second goal on Tuesday night as the reigning Premier League champions defeated Sunderland 2-0 to put more space between themselves and the relegation zone.
That is now five goals in Vardy's last five league games.
The 30 year old's rise from non-league football to Premier League champion has been lauded but even at Leicester as recently as 2013 when he had been at Leicester for a year since leaving Fleetwood Town, he had doubts about his future in the game.
So much so that in his autobiography, Vardy stated that he had considered quitting football to take up a job as a party rep in Ibiza.
The people who talked him out of it? Claudio Ranieri's replacement as Leicester manager Craig Shakespeare, then head of recruitment Steve Walsh and then club manager Nigel Pearson.
The latter discussed that ahead of tonight's Premier League action, stating: "Our job is to support players.
"Sometimes they do have self-doubt and Jamie would be the first to admit he was going through a rough patch. Myself, Nigel and Steve were here to support him. All we did was told him about his attributes and that we thought he could go on.
"We even mentioned then about not only playing in the Premier League but also he had the attributes to play for the national team. We told him we wanted him and believed in him.
"Thankfully he didn't go to Ibiza. I think he has made the right decision!"
