Could Inverness haunt Celtic again 17 years later?

Today is exactly 17 years since Inverness Caledonian Thistle famously beat Glasgow giants Celtic 3-1 in the Scottish Cup.

The extraordinary win gave birth the one of the greatest football headlines ever: "Super Caley go ballistic Celtic were atrocious" after John Barnes' side were humiliated at home.

Goals from Barry Wilson and Paul Sheerin, along with an own goal from Lubomir Moravcik, were enough to give the visitors a shock win and led to the sacking of John Barnes. Mark Burchill scored for the home side but they were well beaten on the night.

It appeared to start a jinx for the Glasgow side and they slipped to defeats against the minnows in the 2003 Scottish Cup quarter-final and the 2015 semi-final.

There have also been a couple of league defeats since that famous night at Parkhead.

Ironically, Celtic welcome Inverness to Celtic Park this weekend in the fifth round of the cup as they look to continue their unbeaten domestic run this season.

The Glasgow side have already collected the Scottish League Cup and are 27 points clear at the top of the league.

Their visitors are currently bottom of the table but are the only team in Scotland to take points off the runaway leaders after a 2-2 draw last September.
