1,064 goals were scored in the Premier League this season.
While the goals went in at an above-average rate, it was a disappointing season for Republic of Ireland players. Only ten players (same as last season) found the back of the net in the English top-tier this season scoring 19 goals.
Irish players accounted for 1.79% of goals this season. Last year the contributed just over 3% of goals in the English top-tier.
Everton defender Seamus Coleman and Stoke City striker Jonathan Walters were joint Irish top-scorers. The duo scored four time each.
While Coleman's goals are impressive for a defender, he did not play in the final two month of the season. The face he remained top of the charts will worry Martin O'Neill.
Walters has been Ireland's Mr. Consistency in the Premier League in recent years. This season was the third time he finished top/joint top of the table for Irish goalscorers.
Shane Long's drop in form can be attributed for the lack of goals in Irish goalscorers this season. The Southampton striker only scored three times in the past campaign, compared to ten goals last season.
Burnley midfielder Jeff Hendrick was the only other Irish player to score more than once last season. The Dubliner scored two goals in his first season in the top-tier.
Six other players also scored this season, with the likes of James McCarthy and Harry Arter scoring a goal each.
Arter was also Ireland's top assist-maker in the top flight, setting up four Bournemouth goals. Coleman was next in the charts with three.
While the number of goalscorers has not changed compared to last season, Ireland manager Martin O'Neill will hope more players score additional goals next season.
