UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin has issued a public statement wishing Denmark's Christian Eriksen a speedy recovery after he collapsed on Saturday evening.
In a European Championships match between Denmark and Finland, the 29-year-old Eriksen collapsed on the field prompting a quick reaction from medical staff.
After a long delay to proceedings in Copenhagen, UEFA announced that the match had been suspended as updates regarding Eriksen's condition were being waited on with bated breath.
It was confirmed shortly thereafter that Eriksen had been taken to hospital where he had been stabilised and was conscious.
To the surprise of some, both UEFA and the Danish FA subsequently revealed that the match between Denmark and Finland would continue where it had left off on Saturday evening.
This decision was made after players from both sides requested the game be played.
As the game continues, UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin has been among those wishing Eriksen "a fully and speedy recovery."
"Moments like this put everything in life into perspective," a statement released via UEFA's Twitter page stated. "At these times, the unity of the football family is so strong and he and his family carry with them the good wishes and prayers of everyone.
"I heard of fans of both teams chanting his name. Football is beautiful and Christian plays it beautifully."
Numerous prominent figures from the world of football have been publicly sharing similar thoughts for the well-being of the Dane.
