Chelsea regain title momentum by beating "maybe the best in the league"

Antonio Conte says he is pleased with his side's response to defeat at Crystal Palace over the weekend, after they beat Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.

The Italian reckons that the momentum has been regained in the race for the Premier League title and went as far as saying that last night they beat "maybe the best in the league".

"To restart after a bad defeat like the last game against Crystal Palace, it's not easy," he told reporters on Thursday night. "We didn't deserve to lose the game against Crystal Palace.

"That can put on a bit of pressure, but I think our reply was very good today. We played against a really strong team. This team is maybe the best in the league.

"They have a lot of great players and a fantastic coach. But our reaction was very good and we must be pleased."

Tottenham kept the pressure on their London rivals with a win last night against Swansea City. Goals from Dele Alli, Heung-Min Son and Christian Eriksen in the final three minutes of the game keeps the gap at the top at seven points, while Liverpool could only manage a 2-2 draw at home to Bournemouth.

Conte says he is not taking his eyes off the prize, despite the points advantage.

"We have to look at ourselves and think that it will take 18 points to win the title. Tottenham could win all eight games. For this reason, we have to win 18 points."

They travel to Bournemouth this weekend for Saturday's late game, while Tottenham host Watford in the 12.30pm kick-off.
