Chelsea gave Jose Mourinho the most unwelcome of presents on his first return to Stamford Bridge as they thrashed his Manchester United side 4-0.
Goals from Pedro, Gary Cahill, Eden Hazard and N'Golo Kante wrapped up a dominant win for the resurgent London side and leaves Man United's boss with much to ponder.
The result lifts Chelsea up to fourth above Tottenham on goal difference, while United languish in seventh.
The Blues did not have to wait long to go in front.
The game was barely 30 seconds old when a long ball between United's defence and the on-rushing David De Gea led to a moment's confusion.
The chasing Pedro capitalised on that to round De Gea and stroke home the opener.
With United looking off the pace, Chelsea doubled their lead from a set-piece.

As the ball bounced around from a right-sided corner, Gary Cahill was on hand to lash in a shot high into the net to make it 2-0.
It was a lead Antonio Conte's side would hold at half-time.
They have switched to a 3-4-3 formation since the chastening 3-0 loss to Arsenal and one of the beneficiaries has been Eden Hazard.
It was the Belgian winger who made his presence felt again as he made it 3-0 just after the hour.
The former PFA Player of the Year made a brilliant third man run into the box and was found with a return ball.
The 25-year-old then showed poise to cut onto his favoured foot and found the bottom corner with aplomb.
And in a sign that all was going well, Chelsea found a fourth through a player that is rarely on the scoresheet.
The industrious N'Golo Kante surged into the box past Chris Smalling and found the other corner of the net to make it 4-0 and add gloss to an already yawning gap between the sides.
