Celtic favourites to sign Steven Gerrard

Bookies have slashed the odds on Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard joining up with former manager Brendan Rodgers at Celtic.

It looks as if Gerrard is edging towards the exit at LA Galaxy after he posted an image to Instagram this week with the caption, “Special place, incredible view, I will miss you LA.”

There have been rumours he may call time on his playing career entirely, however if the bookies are to be believed, a Celtic swansong may be more suited to the 36-year-old’s taste.

A return to Liverpool could also be on the cards after Jurgen Klopp made it clear Gerard would be welcome back on Merseyside.

“You cannot imagine how welcome, so absolutely no problem, but everything we will talk to each other about will stay in these talks,” he said.

“That is how I know Stevie and that is how I am. Nobody should be worried that we don’t have space for Steven Gerrard.”

Signing Gerrard would go down as a massive coup for Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, with a player who scored 186 goals in 710 games during an iconic Liverpool career sure to raise the profile of the Scottish game.

Celtic Midfielder Scott Sinclair said it would be “massive” for the club if the deal materialises.

"The fans would take to him; it would be a massive deal in football. He's a world class player, so I'm sure a lot of players here would learn off him," he told the BBC.

Ladbrokes have cut the odds on a move to Celtic to 7/2 with a Liverpool return priced at 4/1 and move to Celtic’s Old Firm rivals Rangers set at 14/1.
