'The worst thing you could say is it's not surprising'

It's the type of thing you do not want to see in football or in wider society, but a video of Chelsea fans preventing a man boarding a Paris train while singing racist chants has spread like wildfire.

It was filmed before Chelsea's draw at Paris Saint-Germain last night and ESPN FC's John Brewin, who was at the game, first saw the clip as it broke last night.

"It's a deeply depressing story if you think about it in terms of what happened in Paris in the last few weeks as well. Those involved completely disgraced themselves and the worst thing you could say is that it's not surprising," Brewin told Off The Ball tonight.

"It's not something that you see at matches. At matches, if you're a fan, you're under CCTV, there are stewards everywhere. The fact that everyone is seated means other fans have the ability to tell stewards that somebody has used racist language. Yet out in public and out on a train, there is possibility that you will hear language like that used. And a group of young lads who have had drinks to help themselves along, this thing can happen and racism isn't something that has gone away in society, so why shouldn't it have gone away among football fans."

Brewin also reviewed Chelsea's performance on the pitch against PSG after they managed to leave Paris with a 1-1 draw.
