Bohs set for windfall as Doherty edges closer to Tottenham move

Republic of Ireland full-back Matt Doherty looks set for a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Jose Mourinho is believed to be a big fan of the Dubliner's, as he looks to strengthen his squad in North London.

The Athletic report that Wolves had been looking for £20million (€22.3m) to part with their right wing-back.

However, Spurs' initial bid was in the £12million (€13.4m) plus certain add-ons.

Doherty still has three years left on his contract at Molineux, where he's become an integral part of Nuno Espirito Santo's side.

The 28-year old was signed by Mick McCarthy in 2010, after impressing while playing for Bohemians in a trial game against Wolves at Dalymount Park.

Despite never playing a senior game for Bohs, Wolves paid a reported £75,000 for his services.

The Dublin club will collect 10 per cent of any fee generated by a Doherty transfer.

He made his Premier League debut in September of 2011 away to Liverpool, and has made over 300 appearances for Wolves.

Doherty cemented his place in the Wolves first-team during the 2014-15 season, and has rarely looked out of place during their last two season in the top flight.

With Mourinho seeking better than Serge Aurier on the right side of his defence, Doherty is viewed as an ideal replacement.

It's expected the sides will settle on a fee in the region of £15million (€16.75m).

Tottenham have already signed midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton this summer for £15million (€16.75m), while Joe Hart's joined on a free as back-up to Hugo Lloris.
