Bielsa hails players after 'beautiful' draw with Manchester City

Marcelo Bielsa's newly-promoted Leeds United and Manchester City played out a 1-1 draw in the Premier League at Elland Road on Saturday evening.

Rodrigo Moreno scored his first goal for the hosts in the 59th minute to cancel out City's lead that Raheem Sterling provided in the first half.

The draw denied Pep Guardiola victory against one of the men who inspired him to be a coach Marcelo Bielsa as the two tacticians met for the first time in England.

City started the game dominant however Leeds had chances to win it late on and Ederson had to make a save to deny Rodrigo a second.

With the result, Leeds are fifth in the table with seven points from four games while City sit 11th with just four points from a possible 12.

Speaking after the game Guardiola felt there was little between them.

“That was good, huh?

"When both teams want to attack, it’s a good game. We made an incredible first 30 minutes when we could have scored the goals we needed.

“It’s not easy to play against them. They’ve showed how good they are.”

Bielsa meanwhile felt it was also fair both sides came away with a point.

“It would not have been fair if we won this game" the Argentinian said at full-time.

“It was possible to win the game but it would not have been fair.

“We had to put in an immense physical effort to be on even terms with City.

"We played our part for the game to be a beautiful one.”
