Having already won the Bundesliga and the DFB Pokal, Bayern Munich rounded off their season in style adding the Champions League to their trophy cabinet for the first time since 2013.
Hansi Flicks team outlasted PSG in an entertaining affair, winning the game 1-0 after a Kingsley Coman goal put the Bavarians into the lead on the hour mark. Coman's inclusion was a stroke of genius that was fully vindicated at the final whistle, according to Niall Quinn.
"[It was a] great decision. I felt a bit for [Ivan] Perisic he did nothing wrong in the last couple of games but the manager knows best. Hansi Flick, he's known for his humanity and how humble he is with the players. He got them going with their tactics and this drive to play the Bayern Munich way," said Quinn.
"There was great respect for him around the dressing room and he did it quite simply by all accounts from what we know [he said] let's play the Bayern way, let's take risks, let's play a high line and go out and enjoy ourselves."
There was plenty of talk leading into the game about Bayern's notorious high line and whether or not it would be exploited by PSG's trio up front. Flick's team did not disappoint and immediately set out their stall squeezing the PSG players from the front.
Both sides had a number of chances throughout the game and arguably PSG should have gone ahead in the first half. Neymar and Kylian Mbappe each had a glorious chance to put their team in front, Manuel Neuer, who was outstanding throughout, denied Neymar with a fine save while Mbappe was wasteful with his effort.
Much was expected from the two PSG superstars and ultimately they failed to produce on the night.
After going behind, PSG failed to create any real chances of note and when they did Neuer stood firm. The result means PSG's wait for their first European Cup win goes on and Brian Kerr questioned Neymar's ability to produce on the big stage for the Parisians, even though he has been very good in previous rounds.
"He has got to do it. He hasn't produced, the last time he really produced was against PSG for his old club Barcelona."
Despite the fact that Bayern were not as prolific as they have been in previous games they were deserving of the win.
Thiago Alacantara performed superbly alongside Leon Goretzka in the middle of the park.
The Bavarian club have now won the European Cup for a sixth time in their history and set a new record for winning every game they played in this season's tournament and Quinn lauded the influence of Flick who was only made permanent manager by the club in April.
He has improved Serge Gnabry who looks like a world class superstar and has revitalised Thomas Muller who had fallen out of favour under former manager Niko Kovac.
Flick has proven to be an excellent manager in a short space of time and his tactical masterclass in Sunday's game will be discussed for many years to come.
