Bayer Leverkusen "confident" that Havertz won't leave before Europa League

Bayer Leverkusen Peter Bosz is confident that their star player Kai Havertz will stay for next month's Europa League campaign.

The German international looks set to leave the Bay Arena in the upcoming transfer window after they missed out on Champions League qualification through the Bundesliga.

“Kai Havertz will be there right at the start of the training session," the Leverkusen boss told The Sun of the Chelsea target. "I am confident he will also be with us in the Europa League.”

It follows former Manchester City winger Leroy Sane's claim at his Bayern Munich unveiling that his Germany teammate has already agreed terms on a move to Stamford Bridge"

"I think Germany has always had very good young German players. I can’t answer why they’re looking at young players now.

“Many young players get their chance and develop well in the Bundesliga. I think that with Werner and Havertz, which are two Germans in one year, Chelsea did a good job. Germany has good youth work and the whole world knows that. That is of course attractive for the teams abroad.”

Sane added that a desire to win the Champions League was key to his own decision to swap Manchester City for Munich:

“Winning the Champions League is generally difficult. Bayern has done it a few times. I was looking for something new, a new attraction. It was clear to me that if I made a move, it would be a club that could win the Champions League.

“Bayern certainly can win the Champions League. The team is at a top-level. Hansi Flick has done very well. You can see on the pitch that everyone is having. So that was the right decision for me.”
