Bastian Schweinsteiger's position under Jose Mourinho at Manchester United has been one of the main talking points of the current season.
The German World Cup winner has failed to play for Manchester United this season. Last weekend, he was an unused sub against West Ham. His last appearance came in the 1-0 derby win over Manchester City in March.
Having only signed at the start of last season for the club, Schweinsteiger still has over a year-and-a-half left on his deal. He remains one of the highest paid players at the club, despite his inactivity on the field.
Before his move to Old Trafford, Schweinsteiger spent his club career at Bayern Munich where he is still very highly though of. In his time with Bayern, the 32-year-old won almost 20 major club titles, at a domestic, continental and World level.
Bayern's club president Uli Hoeness has spoken about his disgust at the way he has been treated by Mourinho on Manchester.
"If I were him, I would make the people in Manchester pay until his last day," Hoeness said, according to ESPN. "That's what this club [United] deserves for what they've done to him. They should be punished."

Schweinsteiger has gone on record, saying he will not play for another club in Europe. He has been linked on numerous occasion to a move to MLS, but Hoeness thinks that is not a valid option for the midfielder.
"After such a brilliant career, a player like him shouldn't see out his career in a place like America. For me, America simply isn't an alternative for a player of his calibre."
While MLS has seen players like Beckham, Keane, Lampard and Pirlo move west to finish their careers, it may not be an option for the German. Either way, he will continue to try and force his way back into the Manchester United team.
