FC Barcelona have set up a campaign to defend Lionel Messi, who was convicted of tax evasion in a court of law, earlier this week.
The Argentinian and his Father were convicted of avoiding paying tax from 2007 to 2009 to the tune of €4.1 million and sentenced to 21 months in jail.
Anything under 24 months for a first time offender is turned into a suspended sentence in Spain and Messi will not serve jail time.
Barcelona still feel the need to defend their star amid fears Messi might leave Spain.
They have even set up a hashtag for the campaign entitled #WeAreAllLeoMessi
In the statement released by the club, they say "By making it clear that #WeAreAllMessi, we want Leo to know that he is not alone. All members, supporters clubs, fans, athletes, media and everyone else are invited to participate."
Leo, those who attack you are attacking Barça and its history. We’ll defend you to the end. Together forever!
