Mark Clattenburg has had a very impressive 2016.
The English referee was in charge of a unique trio of finals, as he was the man in the middle for the FA Cup, Champions League and Euro 2016 deciders.
In Milan, he officiated in the all-Madrid final as Real defeated Atletico in a penalty shootout. In that game, Clattenburg gave out seven yellow cards, but nobody was sent off.
Five of those cards went to Real players, but it is an Atletico supporter who has taken offence to the 41-year-old's performance.
According to Spanish newspaper AS, José Antonio Campon is suing UEFA over a decision Clattenburg made in the game. Campon is looking for €1,660 compensation as a result of Sergio Ramos' goal.
The Spanish defender scored in the 15th minute, to give Real a 1-0 lead. Campon claims Ramos was in an offside position, and the goal should not have been given.
"If you go to the cinema and there is no sound, they give you back your money," Campon told AS. "This is the same thing. There is a regulation and it has been breached. It is negligence and in your job, and when you are negligent you pay the consequences."
No date has yet been set for Mr. Campon's case against UEFA.
