Graeme Souness feels the Anfield atmosphere now is even more special than during his own successful era at Liverpool.
The former Liverpool captain was speaking on Virgin Media Sport ahead of the Reds' Champions League clash against Napoli.
Jurgen Klopp's side are flying high at the top of the Premier League and have also turned their home game into a fortress.
For example last season, they thrashed Barcelona 4-0 at a raucous Anfield.
"It's the most difficult game for any team in Europe going to Anfield at this moment in time," he said of Liverpool away.
Unique Way
"The crowd get behind them in a unique way. I go there quite a lot and I feel the atmosphere now is greater than when I played - and we were the dominant team.

"We gave them lots to shout about. But I just think right now the atmosphere is so special. Maybe it's because they haven't won the league for so long."
Souness feels the style of football has also contributed to that atmosphere, as well as the thirst to end their 30-year league drought.
He's not the only one who feels that way about Liverpool's home atmosphere at present.
"I had a conversation with Liam Brady this morning and he accepts it as well," he added.
"The atmosphere over there is totally unique to anywhere else in Britain."
