Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson is nearing a return to action but will miss tomorrow's Premier League game with Sheffield United.
The Brazilian's been absent since suffering a calf injury in the Reds' opening game of the season at home to Norwich City.
But speaking ahead of tomorrow's game, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said Alisson will be back in training this weekend, “Ali is in a good way.
"He did yesterday [Thursday], not with us but with the goalie coaches, a full session, so [he’s] getting closer and closer. We will see, now we have to talk to the medical department,” the boss said.
“So Ali looks like he is close but the final word is with the medical department obviously, because we have to ask how it is exactly and that’s it.
“Ali is not in contention for tomorrow, it looks like maybe he can train with the team maybe from Sunday on. We don’t know 100% but he’s really close.”
Klopp offered hopeful notes on both Sadio Mané and Divock Origi ahead of the game at Bramall Lane.
Mané picked up a knock during last Sunday's 2-1 win away to Chelsea, while Origi is recovering from an ankle injury sustained in the recent win over Newcastle at Anfield.
Klopp says both are in contention for tomrorow's game, with both training on Thursday, "Sadio and Div, completely normal. No issues.”
Xherdan Shaqiri is definitely out of the trip to Sheffield, with Klopp telling the media, "Shaq is not ready yet, he is doing rehab".
Liverpool will need their front-3 fit and firing as they haven't won a game at Bramall Lane since 1990.
The hosts could be without Republic of Ireland striker David McGoldrick. He's missed the Blades' last two games with a muscle injury sustained in training, and manager Chris Wilder is not optimistic about his chances of being fit.
