Alan Judge looks set for a move to Newcastle United

He may be out of action until November at the very earliest, but it looks like Republic of Ireland international Alan Judge may be about to join Championship giants Newcastle United.

The Brentford star, who was named in The Championship's Team of the Season last summer missed put of the chance to go to Euro 2016 when he broke his leg in April. The incident happened just over a fortnight after the Dubliner made his international debut in a friendly against Switzerland.

Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez has been busy in the transfer market this summer as he tries to get the club back to the Premier League at the first time of asking. Republic of Ireland defender Ciaran Clark is already one of eight players who have joined the club since the end of last season.

According to the Newcastle Chronicle, Judge is travelling north to Newcastle for talks with the club. The Dubliner is in the final season of his contract with Brentford where he has seen a resurgence in the career.

If Judge were to make the move, he would be expected to cost around £3-4million. He would increase Newcastle's Irish contingent to three players, following in the path of Clark and goalkeeper Rob Elliott.
