Aguero set to make long awaited return for Man City against Marseille

Sergio Aguero could make his first Manchester City appearance since October in tomorrow night's Champions League match against Marseille.

The club's star striker has featured in just four matches for the club this season since injuring his knee in June.

City manager Pep Guardiola revealed that Aguero has been training with the full squad again this week and is hopeful that he could feature in their last group match against the Ligue 1 club.

"We will decide tomorrow (Wednesday). Maybe [he will be] on the bench. Tomorrow we make a training session, see how his reaction in his body," said Guardiola at the pre-match press conference on Tuesday.

"What is important is the last two, three days he was part of the group, his reaction and if the niggles he had in the past disappeared."

City are already qualified for the last-16 as group winners and are also gearing up for the Manchester derby in the Premier League this Saturday evening.

However, the Catalan native insists that he won't be taking the opportunity to rest a lot of his players.

"We will play to win the game," he said. "I don't rotate the team, I put all the players in the best condition and decide the best team for this game.

"There is not one team for one competition. If someone made a lot of minutes and has a lot of problems of course we consider, but I don't rest players.

"The team that will play tomorrow can play against United."

Should  beat Marseille, they will finish the group with 16 points, the joint most of any English side in a single group stage, along with Arsenal in 2005-06 (finalists), Manchester United in 2007-08 (winners), and Tottenham Hotspur in 2017-18 (last 16).
