Shane Lowry's win greeted by famous faces - Kenneth Fox
Countless Irish sports stars and celebrities have taken to Twitter to congratulate Shane Lowry on his win at the British Open, writes Kenneth Fox.
Yesterday was a historic day for Irish sport, and there were plenty of famous faces who were delighted that Offaly's Lowry man secured his first major win.
The likes of Brian O'Driscoll, Paul McGrath and Shane Duffy were among those who congratulated him on his victory.
One Direction star and avid golfer Niall Horan was amazed by Lowry's performance saying "Watching an Irishman winning the Open is an incredible thing. So happy for you Shane."
Horan was at the British Open on Saturday supporting English golfer Tyrell Hatton, who last month signed a deal with Horan's golf management company Modest!

Celebrity impressionist Conor Moore also congratulated Lowry on the win as well as doing his usual mix of impressions for the Golf Channel. Conor even got in on the celebrations as later he tweeted a photo of himself drinking out of the famous claret jug.

A number of other Irish sports stars praised Lowry and what his victory means for the island of Ireland.
Duffy said "Another Irish major winner Shane Lowry, congratulations you have done our country proud once again." With The Open taking place in Portrush this year, it was made even more special by having an Irish winner.
