'I didn't want to be one of those old guys fading into the background'

For eight years Tom Court made his presence felt in the pack for Ulster.

But this coming season, the prop takes his career across the water to pitch up his tent at AVIVA Premiership side London Irish.

Ahead of that new challenge, the 33-year-old Ireland cap joined us in studio to talk about why he chose to swap Belfast for London.

"Belfast, even though it is a city, it's got the feel of a big country town. Everyone says hello, everyone smiles and are friendly and lovely. But it was just more from me and my family's point of view and from a rugby point of view. I didn't want to be one of those old guys fading into the background. It was a fresh start and something that was going to give me a new lease on life or a kick up the bum," said Court, who explained why the London Irish project attracted him.

He also spoke about his hesitation of taking up offers to play for French clubs, saying that "it's often not what it's cracked up to be."

Court also discussed the upheaval at Ulster which helped him decide that it was time for change and he believes the move to London Irish will allow him to immerse himself at the club and play a senior role.
