Tom Arscott will "fully and willingly co-operate" with RFU investigation

Sacked Sale winger Tom Arscott says he will co-operate with the RFU investigation into his alleged leaking of team information.

He met brother and Bristol back Luke Arscott before their teams played in the Premiership on New Year's Day.

Sale Sharks terminated Tom Arscott's contract on Thursday after an internal investigation.

In a statement released through the Rugby Players' Association, Tom Arscott says he's consulting with his legal advisors before deciding what to do next.

"While I am extremely disappointed with the outcome of the club's internal disciplinary hearing, I would like to thank those that have supported me through the process to date," he said.

"This has been a very difficult time for myself and my family and I will consult with my advisors before considering my next steps.

"In the meantime, I will cooperate fully and willingly with the ongoing RFU investigation and will not be making further comment until this has been concluded."

The January 1st match in question saw Bristol beat Sale 24-23.

Sharks have had a difficult season in the 2016-17 Premiership.

They sit 10th of 12 teams in the league table, having lost their last six league fixtures since a 31-13 bonus point victory away at Bristol on October 30th at Ashton Gate.

Sale have also endured a difficult season in the European Champions Cup in this 2016-17 campaign.

Drawn in a pool with fellow Premiership side Saracens, French side Toulon and Wales' Scarlets, Sale have lost five from five to sit bottom of Pool 3.
