Six Nations | Andy Farrell's Ireland net bonus point win against Wales

Andy Farrell imprinted his mark on Ireland after his side saw off Wales by 24-14 in the Aviva Stadium earlier this afternoon.

Ireland started the game at a frantic pace asserting pressure on the Welsh right from the get-go in front of a 51,700 crowd in Dublin's capital.

Jordan Larmour was first to cross the line for the Ireland on the 19 minute mark. The Leinster man fought off four attempted tackles and bounced through defending Welsh players as momentum drove him over the line.

Wales didn't offer a genuine threat in the opening period bar their sole try in the 22nd minute. Tomos Williams crashed through after a pop pass from Dan Biggar who received the ball from a beautiful off-loaded pass from Alun Wynn-Jones to set the move up.

Farrell's side looked staunch at the break down, too. Tadgh Furlong powered over the Welsh try line with the help of Peter O'Mahony on the 31 minute mark for his fifth Irish try.

Ireland played some excellent fluent rugby to end the first-half with a 12-7 lead against the Welsh going into the break.

The home team started the second-half with equal intensity, pinning Wayne Pivac's team inside their 22' in the opening minutes.

Irish pressure paid off after a maul from the rear of the line out that resulted in Josh Van der Flier going over. Roman Poite checked with TMO officials but awarded a third Irish try on 45 minutes.
Ireland had 56% territory advantage over their Welsh counterparts throughout the duration of the game.

Wales asserted a sustained period of pressure inside the Irish 22' but couldn't find a way through a resilient Irish defensive line. Hadley Parks thought he had scored but in fact the Scarlets player had lost the ball after stretching towards the Irish try line.

Andrew Conway topped off the bonus-point victory after some excellent back-line play with five minutes remaining. He pounced over the line after the ball was spread from the back of a ruck just outside the Welsh 22 yard line. Larmour passed to the Munster man to complete a hugely satisfying victory for Ireland's second win of the campaign.

Farrell's Ireland varied their play from extensive back-line pressure mixed with fast ball from the breakdown. Ireland's second win of the tournament was also notable for some excellent defensive play under sustained pressure, turning over the Welsh ball on 13 occasions.

Justin Tipuric added a consolation try for the Welsh in injury time but it wasn't enough as Ireland made it two from two under Farrell.
