Jonny Sexton: Why I'm coming back to Leinster

For the last couple of weeks, Jonathan Sexton's potential return to Leinster was one of the worst kept secrets in Irish sport.

The Ireland No 10 had offers on the table from his former province, his current club Racing Metro as well as other European big hitters.

But the call to the homestead proved too strong and yesterday, the 29-year-old confirmed that he will be back at Leinster at the end of the current season.

Fresh from making a decision which ends his French séjour and brings back to Ireland ahead of the 2015 Rugby World Cup, the fly-half explained his decision on Off The Ball tonight.

"From a player's point of view, the sooner you get things wrapped up, the better. It's an added pressure to have those things going on in the background. Even though I had made my decision, there was a lot of speculation in the press. But when you get the chance to secure your future, you take it," he said.

Early on his time in France, there were question marks over his future and whether he was adapting to a new lifestyle in unfamiliar territory. But he said this was not true and that he had settled well in Paris.

"By no means are we crying ourselves to sleep every night over here. We're very happy. We're lucky that the club has looked after us very well. Obviously there were tough times last year with the transition the club was going through. But we're happy with the experience that we've had."
