Nicola Sturgeon's announced sports stadiums in Scotland could open to fans from September 14.
The Scottish First Minister says it would be for a limited number of spectators and with "strict physical distancing" in place.
The Scottish FA have welcomed the update and plan to update guidance tomorrow.
The First Minister's announcement also means that some spectators may be present for Scotland's rugby test with Japan at Murrayfield on November 14.

During First Minister's questions, Sturgeon told the Scottish parliament, "We hope from September 14 sports stadia will be opened although only with a limited number of spectators, and with strict physical distancing in place.
"Some professional sports events might be arranged with spectators before then with a Scottish government agreement to test the safety of any new arrangements."
One of those test events is set to be the Guinness PRO14 meeting of Edinburgh and Glasgow Warriors on Saturday (August 22).
Celtic have also inquired about staging a test event, but their cause will not have been helped by SPFL charges related to Boli Bolingoli's unauthorised trip to Spain.
Sturgeon said Scottish football is on a "yellow card" following the transgressions at both Celtic and Aberdeen.
The clubs both had two games postponed by the Scottish government as a result.
