Saracens sign Australia's Will Skelton on short-term deal

The reigning English Aviva champions Saracens have signed Australia's Will Skelton on a short-term deal.

The monster second-row joins the English side after the retirement of Alistair Hargreaves and provides cover after a raft of injuries in the Saracen's pack.

Speaking to the club's website, the club's director of rugby, Mark McCall, said: "“We’re delighted to be able to bring a player of Will’s calibre into the group.”

“He is an immensely talented rugby player with vast experience for a 24-year old tight-five forward. It’s no secret that we have been running low on a few bodies in the second-row department but we made it very clear that we wouldn’t compromise on quality when looking to add to our squad."

In Will, we have a player who will certainly have an important role to play in our group over the next few months," he added.

Saracens entertain Sale Sharks in the European Champions Cup, having won both of their opening matches in the competition so far.

McCall's side are also the defending European champions after a hugely successful 2015/16 saw them complete the double.
